Support Shift volunteers will work under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator within various departments.
The Support Shift Volunteer plays a valuable role in Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center’s daily operations and wildlife education efforts. This opportunity will assist the center by keeping the facility clean and organized and allowing staff and volunteers in advanced opportunities to focus on more specialized tasks.
Primary Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning and disinfecting enclosures
- Sorting, folding, and putting away clean laundryÂ
- Washing dishes
- Disinfecting counters
- Prepping food
- Sweeping
- Mopping
- Other daily cleaning tasks around the center
- Bulk prep work such as making toilet paper squares, filling needles for SubQs, and Newspaper prepping
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- Must pass a background check
- Must complete volunteer registration and orientation
- Must have reliable transportation
- No Prerequisites or Monthly Commitments, this is where all our volunteers will start.
Changing Office Locations:
The HHS Wildlife Center will be changing locations to a new and improved building in 2024. The new location will be 3100 W. Fuqua Street, Houston, TX 77045.Â
